Under general supervision, the successful candidate is to develop new and improve upon existing products, optimize manufacturing techniques and processes in regard to cost and productivity. Also, research, sustain and evaluate competitors’ product information in database format. 
 
Job roles:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
l Evaluating performance of new products; produces detailed drawings based on concept sketches.
l Analyzing competitor products and technical literature to determine constraints and opportunities for new products, ensures organization’s designs are state-of-the-art and do not infringe on other patents and initiates patents for new products including drafting for legal review.
l Developing ideas for novel and proprietary product designs and ways to significantly improve existing product offerings. Interfaces with other engineers and vendors to insure proper design.
l Initiating new project programs, generate project timeline and monitor project progress.
l Using Design of Experiment Techniques and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to optimize product design and reduce development time. 
 
Requirements:
l Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering; and 6 years’ experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.Water industry experience, a plus.
l Advanced working knowledge of water chemistry concepts, fluid flow and water pressure as well as analytical method and technical writing; above average understanding of Reverse Osmosis, Ultrafiltration and Microfiltration processes and products.
l Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and experimental designs skills using software for stress analysis calculations in the Design of Experiment practices.
l Working knowledge in drafting and defending patents.
l Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on with hand tools and machine shop equipment and practices.
l Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite software applications such as Microsoft Project, Autodesk and JD Edwards. Create, read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD Drawings and conduct thorough Internet searches.
