Job Title:  Research Associate in Membrane Science and Technology
Hiring Company: Applications are invited for a fully funded 14-month position as a Research Associate to join the Membrane for Electrochemical and Separation Technologies (MEST) research group at the Manchester University. The aim of the position is to develop high-selectivity membranes by incorporating 2D materials onto porous support polymers. Specifically, the team will develop GO/Pd membranes for the purification of H2. The successful candidate will be responsible for the synthesis and characterization of the 2D materials and membranes, as well as for designing the experimental setup to evaluate the membranes. The candidate is also expected to develop a model to validate the experimental results obtained.

Requirements:

• Have, or be about to obtain, a relevant PhD (or equivalent)
• Specialist knowledge and demonstrable research expertise in fields related to membrane technology, separation process and membrane synthesis (either phase inversion and electrospinning), as well as the different characterisation techniques 2D materials and membranes
• Proven experience in modelling for membranes technologies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to present in both written and oral publications
• Ability to liaise confidently and effectively with a range of individuals
• Flexible approach to dealing with research problems as they arise
• Willingness to learn and develop.
