Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Membrane Applications Co-op position at ZwitterCo for the Fall 2026 cycle. With a research background in membrane materials and separation processes, I am highly motivated to contribute to the development and performance testing of innovative membrane technologies addressing global water scarcity challenges.

I recently completed my Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering by research at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, where my work focused on the development of mixed matrix membranes for CO₂/CH₄ separation. My research involved membrane synthesis, permeation testing, and performance evaluation, which strengthened my understanding of membrane transport phenomena and structure–property relationships. In addition, as part of my Research Assistant role, I worked on a project focusing on membrane-based separation of monoethanolamine (MEA) from aqueous solutions, gaining experience in liquid-phase membrane testing and separation performance analysis.

My laboratory experience includes analytical and characterization techniques such as FTIR, XRD, BET, TGA, DSC, XPS, and electron microscopy, as well as experimental data analysis using tools such as MS Excel. I am comfortable working with laboratory equipment, automated data collection, and maintaining detailed laboratory records.

I am particularly excited about the opportunity to contribute to ZwitterCo’s Technology Development team and support the advancement of innovative membrane technologies for water treatment. I would welcome the opportunity to contribute my research experience, analytical skills, and strong motivation to your team.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Mehtab Ali
