Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate - Advanced Separation and Purification

Job location: Oak Ridge, TN,USA
Requirements:
  • A PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, environmental science and engineering, materials science and engineering or a related field completed within the last 5 years.
  • A solid foundation in the science of separation and purification processes, materials chemistry and engineering, polymer chemistry.
  • Hands-on experience in using materials for separations including design, synthesis, fabrication, characterization and performance analysis.
  • Research experience in membrane and sorbent-based separation and purification, membrane module fabrication including hollow fibers and flat-sheet spiral wound, and membrane process scale up.
  • Process research and development experience in one or more separation processes such as filtration, solvent extraction, liquid-liquid extraction, solid-liquid separations, gas-liquid separation, membrane contactors, adsorption, and packed column system.
  • Research experience in extraction, separation and purification of critical materials including rare earth elements, semiconductor and battery materials.
  • Research experience in carbon capture technologies.
  • Research experience in bioenergy separation technologies.
  • Excellent record of productive and creative research as demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.
