I hold an MSc by Research in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, where my work focused on developing ionic-liquid-functionalized silica/polymer mixed-matrix membranes for CO₂/CH₄ separation. Through this project, I gained strong expertise in membrane synthesis, surface modification, gas permeation testing, and a wide range of characterization techniques (FTIR, XRD, SEM-EDX, TGA, DSC). I also integrated molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and COSMO-RS modeling to understand transport mechanisms and polymer-filler interactions, thereby significantly strengthening my analytical and design capabilities in membrane science. My work has resulted in publications in Q1-Q2 journals and conference presentations.
The PhD project on Biogas purification and valorization using membranes aligns directly with my research background and long-term goals. I have hands-on experience with CO₂/CH₄ systems, tailoring membrane structures for enhanced selectivity, and improving interfacial compatibility in hybrid membranes, knowledge highly relevant to upgrading raw biogas to biomethane. I am particularly motivated by the opportunity to contribute to renewable energy solutions by developing high-performance membranes that enable sustainable biogas purification pathways.
n addition to my laboratory experience, I have strong modelling and simulation skills, including MD simulation, sorption-diffusion modeling, and basic process simulation, which I am eager to expand further. My combined experimental and computational background positions me well to contribute to the development of membrane materials, the evaluation of gas separation performance, and process design for biogas valorization.
Pursuing this PhD at the University of Sherbrooke aligns with my long-term vision of advancing clean energy technologies and establishing a research platform in Pakistan focused on renewable energy and carbon management. I am highly motivated to join your team and contribute to impactful research in sustainable membrane-based gas upgrading.
