Job Title: Post-Doc Research Associate
Hiring Company: The Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (ESE) of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill successful candidate will perform research on the development, modification, materials characterization, and testing of membranes for water purification as part of the activities of the UNC Superfund Research Program (SRP). The UNC SRP develops new solutions, interventions and treatments to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and other inorganic arsenic-associated diseases. The removal of arsenic and other contaminants from water using membrane technology is one such intervention. The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with engineers, chemists and material scientists, and will interact and learn from the broader UNC SRP team which includes, among others, toxicologists, health scientists, and science communicators.

Requirements:

• Required qualifications for this position are a Ph.D. in environmental engineering, environmental, science, chemical engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related field.
• Preferred qualifications include: An established record of research productivity is highly desired.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience on membrane technology, broadly speaking, and other water purification technologies.
• Experience in the analysis of contaminants in water (e.g., metals, micropollutants, emerging contaminants) and/or (organic/polymer) material synthesis will be seen favorably but is not required.
