Job Title: Electrochemical Engineering Postdoctoral Scholar
Hiring Company: The Electrochemical Engineering Postdoctoral Scholar Employee will conduct experimental work on water/CO2 electrolyzers and/or other related electrochemical devices (including possibly electrosynthesis) and their components in The Energy Conversion Group at the Energy Storage and Distributed Resources Division of the Energy Technologies Area of the Berkeley Lab.  The work will entail membrane-electrode assembly device fabrication, testing and associated electrochemical measurements and materials characterization, fundamental interface and component fabrication (including catalyst, catalyst/electrolyte interfaces, and membranes), integration and simulation.

Job location: California, United States
Requirements:
  • PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry mechanical engineering, applied physics, materials science or closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience with electrochemical devices and/or components such as PEM, AEM or BPM water/CO2 electrolyzers or related devices.
  • Strong background in electrochemistry and chemical engineering fundamentals, including classical electroanalytical diagnostic techniques.
  • Strong background in material science with experience in using physical characterization tools and data analysis.
  • Self-motived, milestone-driven and be able to work on multiple tasks based on project needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written as well as technical writing.
  • Ability to learn rapidly and integrate new fields to demonstrate creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment and collaborate with researchers from various backgrounds.
  • Ability to work as an independent researcher with a high level of scientific judgment and initiative
