Job location: Manchester, UK
Requirements:

• Degree in Physical Science or Engineering and proven relevant experience in the areas listed below
• Proven R&D experience within industrial or scientific settings (at least 5 years)
• Proven experience in process optimisation procedures. Preferably in energy storage materials development (batteries, supercapacitors, etc.) and/or in graphene and related 2D materials production, evaluation, characterisation and application
• Proven experience in testing and analysing materials using surface science techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, Raman microscopy and FT-IR amongst others and using analytical results to make informed decisions to improve/optimise production process conditions. Incorporation of functionalised and non-functionalised materials into coatings and inks
• Ability to plan, organize, co-ordinate and execute to ensure the production of the agreed deliverables to the project plan
• Good problem-solving skills and creative approach to research & development
• Ability to work to deadlines on multiple projects and ability to prioritise accordingly
• Experience working with confidential data
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to deal with both scientific and commercial issues authoritatively
• Ability to understand key technological aspects of science and engineering and be able to communicate them to a variety of audiences
• Ability and motivation to set goals and meet targets in a market-led environment working across a broad range of industrial sectors
